Liked: Everything you need for a comfortable and quiet stay. Sunny rooms and some with nice district views. Close to the Salamanca precinct and an easy walk into town. Great value, good facilities to self-cater and lovely staff. Feels like a home-away from home.

Convenient location in beautiful Battery point within walking distance of good restaurants, and the CBD. Good parking and great to have the kitchenette. Comfortable beds & good showers. Within walking distance of supermarkets in Sandy Bay. Have stayed at St Ives Appointments many times. Our favourite for Hobart accommodation, because of convenient location, useful kitchenette, parking and comfortable beds. The only negatives are a a little dated decor and some difficulty getting aircon temperature just right.

Liked: I enjoyed my stay at this apartment/motel.
The room was large and clean, with good facilities. Bathroom was spotless.
The location was excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the heart of Battery Point, with easy access to Salamanca (just noting that the property is on slope. Also a short walk into the Hobart centre. Lots of cool bars and restaurants nearby, as well as the excellent Salamanca Fresh supermarket.
I would happily stay here again.
Disliked: The property was advertised as apartments but the vibe was more like a motel (no big deal, just worth mentioning).

Disliked: The twin share room didn't really have anywhere to put your suitcases and the toilet being in the bathroom. Neither of these would impact me staying here again. It was a minor inconvenience.

Liked: The location of the establishment in the Historic Center of Hobart, the receptionist who attended me on the day of my arrival (I think her name is Jess), very nice. The apartment is very well equipped, with a comfortable mattress.
Disliked: During the afternoon and evening, and for several days, children could be heard running in the upstairs room where I stayed. I think the soundproofing of the building isn't very good... During the night, it was "quiet," although the neighbor right next to me was watching TV at high volume one night until the early hours.

The quiet location. Good for sleeping.
Disliked: The kitchen and shower taps were stiff, so when turned on, release a gush of water.
The shower floor is slippery when wet, but the shower head delivers water all over the shower recess and onto the floor, as the screen is not wide enough to stop it.
One of those non-slip rubber shower mats inside the shower would avoid potential falls.

Liked: Located in easy flat walking distance to Salamanca Place and not too far away from the CBD. (15 mins enjoyable walk) Not more than 15 minutes drive to the MyState Bank Arena. Plenty of options for eating out close by in Battery Point and Salamanca Place.
Rooms are very comfortable with opening door to outside balcony for the Tasmanian fresh air. Kitchenette is equipped with basic items for cooking or reheating meals. Great sized shower with good heat and pressure. Bed was very comfortable.
Off street parking on the property was good, close to the front entrance.
Disliked: Early risers in the room above woke us up at 5am for two mornings and they seemed to be opening and closing every drawer multiple times!

Liked: Having stayed at St Ives several times before, the visit was much as expected. Excepting for one stand-out moment.
Brittany was on duty at reception on Friday night when we arrived. As we approached the counter a fire alarm went off. She handled the situation with calm poise and equanimity (yes, I know that's tautological, but the emphasis is appropriate). Brittany even managed to smile gently as she directed us and others out of the building, and she kept that demeanour after we returned. It should also be noted she did not evacuate with us, she walked towards the risk (probably against policy, but I care less for that) to investigate the emergency (a burnt hamburger).
Brittany's manner with people is so pleasant and confident - characteristics that build a sense of reliability and assurance in customers. She can have a great future in hospitality - and probably many other career paths. Take good care of her: she's a gem.

The hotel was lovely and the reception staff were friendly. I had traveled in that day and taken the Skybus from the airport. It was a bit of a hike to get to the hotel, but not impossible. I did not feel like looking for dinner so late, so I took advantage of their continental breakfast option to purchase. The mini kitchen in the room made it easy to toast up the bread and enjoy the food. This is probably a better spot when you are going to be in town for more than one night. But it served my needs well and I would stay there again.

There is parking on the premises, and check-in was smooth. The location is in a quiet residential area, about a 5-minute walk to Salamanca Market, and you can easily reach the city center if you venture a little further. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. As it is an apartment, it has all the basic dishes, cooking utensils, a microwave, and an electric kettle, so you can stay for several days and cook your own meals. Laundry facilities were available in the common area. Even after checking out, they allowed me to leave my car at the hotel while I went to Salamanca Market, which is held every Saturday.

I asked the hotel cleaning staff if they had any herbal tea and they brought me a pack of mint tea.

Liked: A fairly modern motel type accommodation, perfectlyaccommodation, perfectly acceptable, but it isn’t as characterful and interesting as other accommodation in the battery area of Hobart.

Liked: The location is very convenient, only a three-minute drive to the area with supermarkets and restaurants, and only five minutes to Hobart city center; the rooms are very spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped; the only drawback is that the soundproofing is not good enough, and it was quite noisy during the holidays when many families stayed there.
Disliked: During the holiday season, the parking lot was quite full, and the lanes leading to the exit and the second-floor parking lot were rather narrow, making driving difficult.

The room was spacious, clean. Good comfy bed. The kitchen was well equipped. was able to have my luggage stored until pm after checking out. Couldn’t fault in with a good location and ease to get to CBD. Have booked in again for a 2 night stay next week.

Liked: Excellent location within 10min walk to Salamanca Place and City Shops. Free car parking. Fast lift for uppper levels.
Disliked: Uphill from city area so may not be suitable for people with mobility constraints. We were on 3rd level and there was an air conditioning pump noise external to our bedroom.

Liked: My room was fabulous , a huge king size bed and a single . The view was exceptional across the harbour. Kitchen was excellent and everything provided to provide a meal and packed lunch for day trips, including a Tupperware box to carry it in. The staff were so kind and helpful and friendly , I would 110%recommend staying here if you are visiting Hobart . Just a ten minute walk to Salamanca area and Franklin wharf.

Liked: The location of St Ives was excellent. In Battery Point with all the beautiful old houses and easy walking distance to Salamanca & the pier. Bed was very comfy and very impressed with the kitchen facilities as were very handy instead of dining out all the time.
Disliked: Don't have any complaints. Maybe a room with a view of the Harbour but that would be determined by the room & price I paid for. Would definitely stay here again but next time upgrade to a higher floor. I found the price was very reasonable for the area and value for money.

Feb 2026The St Ives Apartment was a major contributor to a lovely, relaxing and engaging stay in Hobart.
Liked: We loved everything. The apartment was large, clean, with a fully appointed kitchen and balcony overlooking part of the city. The bathroom was large, roomy and fully appointed as well. The staff was excellent, cleaning the rooms daily and the location made for easy travel to the city centre and other parts of Tasmania. We will definitely be back.
Disliked: There was nothing that was lacking.

Liked: The room comes with a small kitchen which fits us perfectly. It's located in a good location as well. Walking distance to Salamanca. Also, despite located not too far from the main road, we did not hear any noises from your room 208. There is also a laundry room available. $6 for washing or drying. On-site parking.
